  • Congratulations on Ofsted Success, St Cross Hoddesdon

Congratulations to St Cross Catholic Primary School, on a
    successful Section 8 Ofsted inspection

The final report has now been published and is available on the school website.

"Ofsted has reported that our actions have been effective, and we have maintained our "Good" rating.
In particular, the inspectors noted the respectful atmosphere and behaviour in school which is excellent to see and especially
the way older pupils take a lead in helping us build a positive and happy environment." (Mrs Walsh, Executive Headteacher)

"Pupils are confident and friendly.  They are self-assured and talk about their pride in their school.
They are polite to others in the school.  This creates a respectful atmosphere."

"The school's curriculum is carefully planned from Reception to Year 6.  Staff ensure that learning connects,
and that important knowledge is revisited.  This helps pupils to learn and remember ideas and concepts well."

"The report also notes a small area for further improvement which we had already identified and have been taking action.
Changes to the curriculum in some subjects means that we are focusing closely on some older pupils to make sure they are fully confident in all subject topics.  Ofsted has noted that this work is progressing well but as we know it is not yet completed.

Inspectors have also recognised how the support of our governors and the St Francis of Assisi Trust continue to benefit
the growth of the school and our approach to standards." (Mrs Walsh, Executive Headteacher)

"The school works closely with governors and the trust.  Trustees hold the school accountable and carry out their statutory duties.
This support and challenge helps the school to continually improve.  Parents appreciate the school's nurturing environment,
    which benefits their children."
